A Hub For Quality Education In The Rural Sector
Vidyasthali Kanar Inter College is a co-educational, English-medium school situated at Kanar, a village in Malihabad, 32 kilometers away from Lucknow. It was established in 2005 by Study Hall Educational Foundation (SHEF) with the goal of providing affordable but high-quality education to rural children. It started with 84 children from nearby villages but quickly rose to cover 55 villages in a 25-km radius. In 2011, Mr. Chandru Kewalramani and the Kewal Ramani Foundation recognised the efforts of SHEF and have been generously supporting it financially ever since.
The school runs classes from preschool to Class 12 and is affiliated to the UP Madhyamik Shiksha Board for High School and Senior Secondary (Intermediate) Exams.
A dedicated faculty of 27 teachers provide quality education to almost 500 students in Science, Humanities and Commerce streams.
Understanding the financial constraints of the rural population, we have kept our fees very affordable, subsidizing them by almost 60%. An average monthly fee of Rs. 750 is charged, with scholarships available for students, particularly girls, who are unable to afford even that. Out of approximately 500 students, more than a quarter are recipients of scholarships and other forms of financial aid.
